Paris 2007
I was in Paris for around six days in early April, 2007.

Paris

Les Invalides
Vanessa and I tried to go to les Invalides to tour the war museum and see Napoleon's grave. Unfortunately, les Invalides is closed the first Monday of every month, and that was the day we picked to be there. However, they still let people wander the grounds outside the museum proper, and there was enough war machinery around to make it worth the trip.

Arc de Triomphe
I have to say that of all the amazing things I discovered on my trip, the fact that you can climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe was perhaps the most surprising. It's not that expensive, it offers a fantastic view of the city, and you get to walk up and down these really cool spiral staircases.

Vanessa's Apartment
This is a shot taken from the roof deck of the apartment where Vanessa was staying. The apartment is across the street from Père Lachaise, and this is the view as one looks towards the Seine.

Canal Saint-Martin
When Air France's madness forced me to spend another full day in Paris, I spent the afternoon taking a boat trip up the Canal Saint-Martin, which begins at the Seine and snakes through a good part of Paris.

Musée d'Orsay
Unfortunately, time did not allow me to actually go inside the Musée d'Orsay. However, there was more than enough time to take a picture of the giant rhinoceros statue that sits outside. From across the street, it cuts a fairly dramatic figure. Up close, one can see that it is really a rather hideous attempt at a rhino simulacrum.
